Climbing Test Area


Of course as we were going to be creating a character, who jumps and climbs, we needed to create a sandbox test area with different set heights, and this was up to me.

I started be defining the character height, and I also knew that he wouldn't be able to jump very high, this allowed me to take this into account and create different height blocks, for stepping up, pulling up, jumping and pulling up, and using the grappling hook. 

This simple climb area had iterations of each block as well.


After creating these I added in some more stuff, a vertical gap between two walls that was just under the size of the character's legs, so he could climb up the middle of them, and a wall that went around some of the outside of the area, encase the character would be climbing on vines.


From this I had the main area, and the original unity file where it was created, as well as the original blocks created in Maya, each set to the correct heights.
