The next stage of the tutorial area iteration was to implement the versions that Monika had been working on as they had been textured. You can find more about what is going on with the creation and implementation of these textures at Monika's blog/post here.
As I am not the artist I cannot comment on this much, however I found that these textures gave the canyon a great look and feel, and I am really exited to see where artistically the canyon is taken from here.
